LONG BEACH—Long Beach Unified School District Superintendent Christopher Steinhauser was among three Los Angeles County residents appointed or reappointed Monday to the California State University Board of Trustees by Gov. Jerry Brown.
Wenda Fong, 66, of Los Angeles, was also appointed to the board, while Jean Picker Firstenberg, 81, of Los Angeles, was reappointed.
Steinhauser, 58, has been superintendent of schools at the Long Beach Unified School District since 2002, and has worked for the district since 1990. He earned a master's degree in educational administration from Cal State Long Beach.
Fong has been a partner at The Group since 2017 and was vice president of alternative entertainment at Fox Broadcasting Co. from 2003 to 2014.
Firstenberg was president and CEO at the American Film Institute from 1980 to 2007.
The $100-per-diem position requires Senate confirmation.
